The City of Pierre is changing the way it updates people about water main repair or replacement work being done in their area.
Construction Operations Manager Jeff Runyan says they’re hoping to eliminate– or at the very least substantially reduce– the amount of time homes are without water.
Runyan says the temporary water line will be connected to a fire hydrant.
Runyan says this new process will also benefit businesses when there’s work in their vicinity.
When the temporary water line is being used, Runyan says people may experience lower water pressure at times when demand is high, such as when multiple places are watering lawns or running irrigation systems. But, he says, for the most part there won’t be a noticeable difference.
