PIERRE – A rough start for 2023 Pierre Governor Baseball may now be long forgotten.
The Governors, who lost their first five games, have now won their last seven after a doubleheader sweep of Brandon Valley Saturday, 2-0 and 6-5 at Hyde Stadium.

Pierre’s runs came on an RBI groundout by Deegan Houska in the fourth inning and when Jonny Lyons was hit by pitch with the bases loaded in the sixth inning.

George Stalley stole home on the back end of a double steal to cap a three-run rally in the sixth inning and give Pierre its third one-run win of the season. Brecken Krueger brought home the inning’s first run with a sacrifice fly before Jett Zabel tied the game with an RBI double.
Zabel hit a sacrifice fly in a three-run first inning. Lyons won on the mound in relief.
