PIERRE – After ending the regular season with 10 straight wins, Pierre Governor Baseball has the top seed for this weekend’s Class A regional tournament action in the South Dakota High School Baseball Association. Pierre (10-5) will play Saturday at Hyde Stadium, needing two wins to make the Class A state tournament on May 27 in Sioux Falls.
Governor Head Coach Steve Gray said that most everything is going right for his team right now.
Gray pointed out Lincoln Kienholz and Deegan Houska as among those standing out.
Gray says that Class A is filled with talented teams.
Pierre’s opponent on Saturday is Douglas, who was 1-13 in the regular season. Still, Gray said that the Patriots cannot be taken for granted.
Sioux Falls Lincoln will face Brookings on Saturday at noon at Hyde Stadium, followed by Pierre and Douglas. The winners of those games will then play for a spot in the state tournament.
