PIERRE – At last, the losing streak is over.
A six-run fifth inning led the Oahe Zap to an 8-2 win over the Hastings Sodbusters Saturday at Hyde Stadium, the first win for the Zap since May 26 to break an 11-game losing streak.
Tyler Traphagen broke a scoreless tie with a two-run triple in the fifth for the Zap (2-14), followed by an RBI infield single by Preston Lau and a three-run home run by Cy Probst.
Hastings scored twice in the seventh, but the Zap then scored their other runs in the home eighth on a Traphagen sacrifice fly and an RBI single by Kyle Memarian.
Jack McDonald pitched a complete-game six hitter for the win. He struck out eight and walked just one.
