MITCHELL – For the third time in three 2023 games, Pierre Governor Football could not be stopped.
Pierre scored on all nine of their possessions Friday in a 62-8 thrashing of the Mitchell Kernels at Joe Quintal Field.
Pierre (3-0) led 41-0 at halftime, scoring on all six first half possessions. Cade Kaiser threw three touchdown passes in the half to Cooper Terwilliger. Brock Moser and Trey Lewis had touchdown runs.
Parker Denne scored on a touchdown run with just under three minutes left in the third quarter for Mitchell, the first points allowed by the Governors this season.
Kaiser threw a second-half touchdown pass to Jett Zabel. Kaleb Lounsberry also had a touchdown pass to Caleb Schifelbein and a touchdown run.
Kaiser was 12-of-14 passing for 207 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran four times for 72 yards.
Terwilliger had 77 yards on his three receptions. Zabel caught four passes for 64 yards. Schiefelbein had six catches for 38 yards.
Moser ran for 120 yards on eight carries. Lewis ran three times for 51 yards. Lounsbury had 10 runs for 49 yards.
Chance Carda led Pierre’s defense with six tackles, two for losses, and one of the Governors’ two sacks. EJ Boutchee recorded the other. Lucas Chamberlin had an interception.
Ryann Barry was eight-of-nine on extra points.
