MITCHELL – Saturday in soccer, Pierre’s girls were overwhelmed by AA’s best team and the Governor boys earned a crucial win.
At Joe Quintal Field, the top-ranked Mitchell girls blanked Pierre 5-0. The Governors (5-3-1), coming off a Thursday win at Brookings that broke a three-match winless streak, became the sixth shutout victim of the 11-0 Kernels this season.
The Pierre boys then broke a 2-2 half time draw with two second-half goals in an important 4-2 win over Mitchell to end a four-match winless streak. The Governors are now 3-4-2 and through Saturday stood tied for 15th in the AA boys seed points standings with Rapid City Central.
