The US Army Corps of Engineers will hold its annual fall public meetings for the Draft Missouri River Mainstem Reservoir System Annual Operating Plan in November (Nov. 7-9, 2023).
Corps officials will provide an update on this year’s runoff and reservoir operations as well as planned operations for the 2023-24 runoff season. Included in the plan is the possibility for test flows from Fort Peck Dam.
Chief of the Missouri River Water Management Division John Remus says the purpose of the test flows is to evaluate the potential for achieving Pallid Sturgeon spawning and recruitment in the upper Missouri River using periodic releases that better replicate historic flows and temperatures and would be conducted to comply with the 2018 Biological Opinion.
The Oahe Reservoir meeting will be Nov. 8, 2023, at 10am CT at the Ramkota Hotel in Pierre. Another meeting will be held at 1pm in the Lower Brule Community Center.
