ABERDEEN – Regular season soccer ended in a rough way for both Pierre Governor teams on Tuesday.
Aberdeen Central swept Pierre in varsity matches at Swisher Field. The Golden Eagle girls blanked Pierre 1-0 and the boys were 5-0 winners.
Girls: Aberdeen Central 1, Pierre 0
Kailyn Poppen converted a penalty kick in the 29th minute for the only goal of the match.
Aberdeen Central outshot Pierre 6-2. Governor goalkeeper Emlyn Swanson made two saves.
Pierre ended the regular season at 8-4-1 and will host a first-round playoff match on Tuesday at the PILC Soccer Complex.
Boys: Aberdeen Central 5, Pierre 0
Tyson Hassebroek scored three goals and Manuel Munoz added two as the Golden Eagles dominated, with 12 shots on goal to Pierre’s one. Governor goalkeeper Haley Fabel made two saves.
Pierre (3-6-3) will play a first-round playoff match on the road on Tuesday.
