Travel South Dakota has launched a new podcast series that uses storytelling to inspire travel to the state. The Travel South Dakota Stories podcast delves into the true heart of the state with stories of people and places from the land of infinite variety.
“This podcast series is full of unique local voices and sprinkled with stories of lore and South Dakota history,” said James Hagen, Secretary of Travel South Dakota. “These first three episodes are a great start to telling the South Dakota story through audio. You can close your eyes and hear the rustle of prairie grass, listen to the bison snort in Custer State Park, or hear the deck of cards being shuffled in Deadwood. You can begin to imagine yourself in the place.”
Travel South Dakota partnered with Armchair Productions to produce the podcast series. Podcast host Brian Thacker, a first-time visitor to South Dakota, came to experience a glimpse of South Dakota and record his findings. Interviewing artists, cowboys, mountain carvers, and park enthusiasts, Thacker dug into what makes South Dakota special.
The series was developed as a South Dakota offering to an ever-growing podcast market. According to eMarketer, there will be more than 144 million monthly podcast listeners in the United States by the end of 2025. “Podcasts have been steadily growing in popularity and are becoming a great tool in our marketing toolbox,” said Hagen. “We are thrilled to reach new audiences and connect with potential visitors through this comprehensive audio experience.”
The podcasts can be found on Apple, Google Play, Spotify, TravelSouthDakota.com/Podcast, or wherever you listen to podcasts.
