A man wanted for a double murder in Roanoke, Virginia was arrested this morning (Oct. 18, 2023) at a residence on the north side of Vermillion.
Information from the US Marshals Service says on October 2, 2023, a Roanoke Grand Jury indicted Edward Denoyer for 2 counts of First-Degree Murder, Aggravated Malicious Wounding and 3 counts of Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony. The charges stem from an incident that happened in Roanoke on September 17, 2023. Following the shooting Denoyer fled Virginia.
Denoyer’s whereabouts were unknown until Wednesday morning when he was taken into custody by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Dakota Territory Fugitive Task Force with the assistance of several other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. Denoyer was taken to the Clay County Jail where he is being held pending his initial appearance and extradition proceedings to Virginia.
Agencies assisting with this case include the U.S. Marshals Service, Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (Virginia), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Roanoke Police Department, South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Clay County Sheriff’s Office, and Vermillion Police Department.
