The South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council is thrilled to invest $2.5 million of soybean checkoff dollars over the next five years in support of the POET Bioproducts Center. David Struck, Chairman of the South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council and farmer from Wolsey, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “As a farmer, I am excited about the possibilities that this investment brings. In addition to the SD Soybean Checkoff investment, the 45,000-square-foot facility was made possible through $20 million in legislative funding, $5 million from POET and $2 million from South Dakota Corn, and the state of South Dakota has committed $500,000 yearly for operational costs. The U.S. Economic Development Administration has provided another $3 million for the purchase of specialized equipment needed for the labs.
