If you’re at a restaurant and a friend snags a fry off your plate, is that cool? Or are you immediately reassessing that friendship?
A poll found half of us would be annoyed if a friend snagged something off our plate without at least asking first. And fries are the #1 food we DON’T want to share. (Weird, because they’re a pretty sharable food.)
The top foods we don’t want to share are fries, pizza, ice cream, and chocolate. Around 1 in 10 people say they won’t share under any circumstances. (Joey had a whole plotline about this on “Friends”.)
29% would rather buy someone their own helping than share with them . . . 15% said it’s caused an argument before . . . and 16% have physically stopped someone from stealing food. Like by moving the plate or smacking their hand.
27% will always let someone snag a bite, but that doesn’t mean they’re cool with it. A sizeable portion said they just do it to be polite.
The poll also found 53% of people regularly have “food envy,” where you wish you ordered what someone else got.
