NOVEMBER 15, 2023:
Pierre City Commissioners have approved changes to a small portion of the town’s sidewalk ordinance.
A private landowner with property abutting both Drycreek Road and Abbey Road requested curbside sidewalk in certain sections to avoid challenging topography and a large drainage way. To approve the request, an ordinance change was required.
Nick Waters, City Engineer, says there’s a section in city ordinance that dictates how sidewalks along Drycreek and Abbey Roads can be developed. He says the proposed change clarifies language and allows the sidewalk to be curbside, rather than on the boulevard in these locations.
