The Pierre Governor girls basketball team scored 12 unanswered points in the first quarter and never looked back as they handled Sioux Falls Lincoln, 41-25.
Lennix Dupris scored 14 points and Ryann Barry 13, hitting five 3-pointers combined along the way as the Governors bounced back from a Saturday loss at home to Bismarck. Pierre led 27-12 at halftime and 41-21 after three quarters. A somewhat relaxed fourth quarter contributed to a scoreless final stanza but the defense remained solid throughout and the Patriots were sent to a seventh straight loss to open their season.
Pierre improves to 5-2 with the win and will host Sioux Falls Washington Saturday afternoon. The Govs lost to Washington in the State Championship game a season ago.
Airtime for Saturday will be 1:30 on 1060 KGFX-AM /103.1 FM with live video stream available at https://drgnews.com/kgfx.
