PIERRE – The last time the Pierre Governor girls basketball team played Sioux Falls Washington, it was in last season’s State Championship game at the Sanford Pentagon, a game dominated by Washington, 54-36. Saturday (Jan. 6, 2024) at Riggs High Gym, the Governors prevailed, 52-47, as Lennix Dupris poured in 25 points. Pierre led 17-11 after a low-scoring first half and while both offenses heated up in the second half, no one was hotter than Dupris, as she hit five 3-pointers to help offset every rally the Warriors put together. Ryann Barry added 13 points and 10 rebounds to help the cause. Grace Peterson scored 12 and Dana Harpe 11 to lead the Warriors.
The Governors improve to 6-2 with the win and will be at home again in their next action Thursday night as they host Lakota Tech in a 7:00 tipoff – pregame on RIVER 92-7 and https://drgnews.com/river will be at 6:30.
