VERMILLION, S.D. – The University of South Dakota’s third annual Native American Heritage Game has been set for the Coyote women’s basketball team. The Coyotes will host Kansas City on January 27th in Vermillion. The event will feature a pre-game Native American student-athlete honoring, the Lakota Flag Song, drum group performances and more. 1964 Olympic gold medalist and Pine Ridge native Billy Mills will be recognized as part of a special presentation at halftime. The first two Native American Heritage Games hosted by USD have averaged over 600 Native American students. This is the first South Dakota women’s basketball game to be a part of the event.
