GOVERNORS ADD ANOTHER DUAL WIN FRIDAY NIGHT
PIERRE — The Pierre Governor wrestlers remained unbeaten on their dual season Friday night (Jan. 12, 2024) by notching an ESD Conference win over Watertown, 47-27.
Elijah Boutchee got things started at the 215 pound class with a pin, and the Govs added five more wins by fall along the way, including Gable Uhrig and Walker West at 106 and 113 respectively. Another three straight pins came from Jaxon Ducheneaux, Lucas Chamberlin and Trey Lewis from 157 through 175 pounds as Pierre won nine of 14 weight classes overall. Five wins for the Arrows in the dual included pins from top-ranked Sloan Johannsen at 126 and Cooper Kettwig at 144, plus a pair of wins by forfeit as well. Perhaps the most anticipated match of the evening came at 190 pounds, where top-ranked Chance Carda of Pierre scored a convincing 12-0 win over #2 Brock Eitreim of the Arrows.
Pierre improves to 5-0 on their dual season as they get set to host their annual East/West Dual Tournament this Saturday at Riggs High Gym.
