PIERRE – Pierre and Brandon Valley played a pair of good ball games in opposite venues Thursday night, but it was the Lynx prevailing in both games.
In the girls game in Brandon, Lennix Dupris continued her hot scoring streak as she led the way with 19 points, along with Reese Terwilliger’s 15, but it wasn’t enough, and Brandon Valley came out on top, 50-46. The Governors trailed 25-22 at halftime and finally took a 33-32 lead on the last of four 3-pointers for Dupris in the third quarter. But a trey by Ava Kellenberger early in the fourth put the Lynx on top for good, as Brandon Valley improved to 5-3 on the season.
The Govs fell to 7-3 and will head to Aberdeen Central in their next matchup on Tuesday – a game that can be heard on KGFX 1060 AM/103.1 FM and seen with live video at https://drgnews.com/kgfx.

In the boys game at Riggs High Gym in Pierre, a 13 point rally at the end of the first and early second quarters put Brandon Valley up for good, as they held off the Governors for a 57-47 win. The Lynx built a double-digit leads in each half and were able to respond to Governor rallies in both instances. Senior post player Josh Olthoff led Brandon Valley with 17 points while Aiden Zerr chipped in 13, most of which came in the first half rally.
The Lynx led at intermission, 25-20, but extended their lead to a game-high 15 at the end of the third quarter, 43-28. Pierre was able to cut the lead down to six in the fourth quarter, spurred by Luke Olson, who scored a game high 21, but the Lynx defense was able to slam the door on the last Governor comeback attempt. Jett Zabel added 11 for Pierre who slipped to 7-4 with the loss.
