The Walworth County Commission held a regular meeting on Tuesday, February 6th.
Highway
Walworth County Highway Superintendent Tom Hannan gave the commissioners an update on furnace issues at the highway shop building. Hannan said their most efficient and reliable heat source may be a natural gas line from MDU, but he has been visiting with other companies about ideas to keep things from freezing in the shop. Hannan also mentioned brick and basement problems in the county building. He said a masonry company in Aberdeen will look into structure issues to see what might be done.
The commission approved the Chairman to sign a Web Water Notification for Occupation of Right of Way for a potable water line on 290th Avenue, north of Frey Seed.
Hannan talked about spring load limit dates, and load limits on 300th Ave (the Sitka Road) from US 12 to 132nd Avenue due to road deterioration.
Sheriff
At Sheriff Josh Boll’s request the commissioners rescinded the contingency transfer of $85.98 into the DARE fund. Sheriff Boll said it does not need to occur.
Also at the meeting, three executive sessions took place – one for highway department personnel, one under the auditor on the agenda, and another for personnel.
Under new business, Commission Chairman Jim Houck mentioned the opt out for Walworth County, and being prepared to have a referendum vote in June with the primary election.
