One of a series of sculptures that are planned to depict some of Fort Pierre’s historical personalities could be finished by late this fall.
Mayor Gloria Hanson says where the statue of Pierre Chateau, Jr., will be placed has not yet been decided.
The sculptures are being paid for through private donations and Hanson says they align with information being complied to highlight the quality of life in Fort Pierre.
Additionally, the Stanley Townsite development planned for along Waldron Street in Fort Pierre was recently awarded $705,000 from South Dakota Housing. Hanson says city leaders will learn more about that project during a meeting today (Feb. 8, 2024).
The Stanley Townsite project will establish the infrastructure needed to build the single family and multifamily housing units.
