RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Oahe Capitals Bous Varsity hockey team got ambushed on Friday night (Feb. 16, 2024) as they dropped a 10-2 verdict to the Rushmore Thunder in high school league hockey action in Rapid City. Rushmore shut out the Capitals through the first two periods and built a 5-0 lead until Jarron Beck scored the Capitals first goal of the game 51 seconds into the third period on an unassisted goal. After the Thunder increased their lead to 6-1, Aiden Dozark scored on an assist from Dylan Dodson at the 8:05 mark of the third period. But that was all the Capitals would muster offensively as the Capitals wound up with only 16 shots on goal compared to 39 by the Rapid City Squad. Oahe fell to 7th in the league standings with the loss and has to forget about the setback quickly as they return home to host Yankton tonight in Ft. Pierre.
