SIOUX FALLS – The Pierre Governor girls basketball team suffered a heartbreaking loss at Mitchell Friday night, but responded with a big win on the road Tuesday night, topping fourth-ranked Sioux Falls Jefferson, 51-47.
The Governors scored the last eight points of the first half to take a 30-22 lead into the locker room and then added the first five points of the second half. They led 45-31 after three quarters, but senior guard Ryann Barry fouled out early in the fourth quarter and the Cavaliers rallied to pull within two at 49-47 late. Lennix Dupris then iced the game with two free throws to give the Govs the win and improve to 13-6 on the season.
Reese Terwilliger led Pierre with 17 points while Dupris chipped in with 15. Pierre will close out their regular season at home Friday night when they host Sioux Falls Roosevelt in a game that can be heard on KGFX 1060 AM/103.1 FM – pregame at 6:30 – and seen at https://drgnews.com/kgfx.
