In a rematch of last Olympics’ gold medal match, US Women’s Volleyball won an absolute nailbiter of a match this afternoon against Brazil to advance to the finals.
After winning the first set 25-23, the US dropped the second setting up this thrilling back-and-forth battle. In the third set the US flexed their muscles and was able to regain control over the talented Brazilian squad, winning the set 25-15. They did so with aggressive defense, playing extremely well at the net. As the match continued, Brazil continued to fight all the way to a fifth set. The closest the fifth set got was when Brazil cut it to two points (10-12), but the US continued their dominance winning the set 15-11, and the match.
The final score: Set 1- U.S. (25-23) Set 2- Brazil (25-18) Set 3- U.S. (25-15) Set 4- Brazil (25-23) Set 5- U.S. (15-11).
The star for the US was superstar Kathryn Plummer who had double-digit kills and a .450 hitting percentage.
The U.S. awaits the winner of Italy vs. Türkiye to see who they will play in the gold medal match on Sunday at 6:00 AM CT.
