Could your phone habits be slowly killing your relationship? A marriage counselor posted a list of nine things he and his wife agreed to never do with their phones.
The general idea is that privacy in a relationship is good. You don’t need to tell each other EVERYTHING. Just make sure privacy doesn’t turn into secrecy. Here are the top phone habits he says to avoid in a relationship . . .
1. Not sharing passwords. You either trust each other or you don’t. Give them your password.
2. Hiding your phone. Like if you tuck it away when you go to take a shower, that might seem suspicious.
3. Keeping your phone face down on the table. It seems like you’re afraid they’ll see a text come through.
4. Turning your phone away from them while you’re using it. Like you’re trying to hide what you’re typing.
5. Quickly closing an app or locking your phone when they walk by. Again, what are you hiding?
6. Changing your password without telling them. Don’t wait until they need to google something and try to open it. It’ll seem shady if you didn’t tell them.
7. Being hot and cold about letting them use it. It’s all or nothing. They have access to your phone, or they don’t.
8. Getting angry or defensive about why your privacy is so important. Don’t gaslight them and act like it’s crazy to want to know your password.
9. Suddenly being highly protective of your phone. Similar to #7. Unless you’re planning their birthday or something, they’re right to think it’s a red flag.
