Everyone knows the feeling of losing a sock in the laundry . . . and some people have more patience for it than others.
A poll asked people what they do when they discover that a sock has lost its match, and 38% keep it for a short period of time, hoping that the other one will show up on the next laundry day, or the one after.
29% of people say they keep the remaining sock INDEFINITELY, in hopes of finding the other one someday . . . even if it takes months or years.
19% of people immediately throw it away . . . and 9% claim they NEVER lose socks. (C’mon. There’s no reason to LIE in a poll like this.)
Interestingly enough, old folks are the demographic least likely to have any patience, and are more likely to toss the sock.
Another question asked how you store your socks . . . and 84% of people said they have them connected as pairs. But 9% leave them as singles in a drawer. Which would drive me CRAZY unless all your socks are the same.
