The Walworth County Commission has appointed Sarah Malsom as the new state’s attorney for the county. Malsom will be sworn in by the judge on Monday, October 21st. The commissioners all agreed that Malsom could hire Vaughn Beck as her consulting attorney as needed, with his fees to come out of the state’s attorney’s budget.
Also at Wednesday’s (October 16th) commission meeting:
- A motion was passed to stay with the county’s current health insurance plan, which will have a 15.7 percent increase in the premium. They approved a second motion to leave the county’s dental and vision insurance as is.
- The commissioners approved an easement for Evan Salverson to install drain tile on a section line right of way from his property south to drain a low spot into Blue Blanket Lake. Adjoining neighbors have all signed off on it as well.
- Emergency Manager Jeff Jensen is attending a class in Sioux Falls this week on uncrewed aircraft systems in disaster management. Jensen also received approval on his request to compensate individuals who maintain the emergency manager’s phone and all included responsibilities when he is out of state. The board passed a motion to pay Mobridge Fire Chief Doug DeLaRoi $25.00 a day whenever he assumes that duty.
