Pierre resident Kevin Larsen has announced he is running for a seat on the Pierre City Commission in June.
Larsen says after the recent announcement from Commissioner Vona Johnson that she wouldn’t be seeking reelection, he decided it was time to step up.
Larsen sees things such as the new Pierre Outdoor Pool as a way to help attract more young families to live in town.
One area Larsen sees that could use some attention is enforcement of city ordinances.
Larsen is currently the Public Information Officer for the South Dakota State Historical Society. He and his wife, Hillary, have been residents of Pierre for a few years.
