PIERRE, S.D. (SDBA) — Budget finalization and property tax relief measures top the agenda as the South Dakota Legislature faces a robust schedule Monday (March 10, 2025), with committee hearings and floor action in both chambers.
The Joint Committee on Appropriations will meet at 10 a.m. in Room 362 to set budgets for six state departments, including Military, Veterans Affairs, and Agriculture & Natural Resources. The committee will also hold a hearing on HB 1046, a bill to revise the General Appropriations Act for fiscal year 2025.
The Senate convenes at 11 a.m. for its 34th legislative day, with several notable items on the agenda:
- HB 1235, which would reduce property tax revenue increase limits for taxing districts
- HB 1130 regarding permissible dates for municipal and school district elections
- HB 1169, which would modify signature requirements for constitutional amendment petitions
- HB 1066 on residency requirements for voter registration
