The Pierre City Commission has approved an $85,000 ($85,470) bid to provide drainage pipe for an area the town is developing for a materials storage yard.
Staff Engineer Scott Schweitzer says the pipe will channel storm water runoff between East Elizabeth Street and Landfill Road.
Schweitzer says city staff will install the drainage line as time allows. He says further development will happen at a later date.
Pierre city commissioners also approved a contract with Mocon Pacific, which Project Manager Gidget Palmer says is for the repair and lining of a stretch of sanitary sewer pipe under Euclid Avenue and a section of storm sewer under Fort Street.
The lining process essentially provides Pierre with a new pipe without having to tear up a street. The deficiencies Mocon will correct were identified through routine camera inspections in preparation for street projects. The lining projects could begin as soon as next week.
