No one was hurt and no material was spilled when a semi tanker went partially into a construction site last week (May 6, 2025) at the intersection of SD Highway 204 and Highway 1806 at Fort Pierre.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates the driver lost control of the semi and drove over the edge of a construction site, causing the semi to become unstable. An excavator was used to keep the semi on its wheels while the liquid syrup in the tanker was transferred to a different truck. A portion of Highway 1806 was closed during the event and reopened a short time later.
The name of the semi driver has not been released.
