Aug. 28, 2025:
Farms and ranches in South Dakota that have been in the same family for 100, 125 or 150 years are being recognized Thursday (Aug. 28, 2025) during the State Fair in Huron.
Governor Larry Rhoden says the Century Farm and Ranch program is a display of the legacy of agriculture in South Dakota.
To qualify for the 100, 125 or 150 year honor, the applicant must have retained continuous ownership of at least 80 acres of the original farmland for 100, 125 or 150, respectively.
The Century Farm and Ranch program is coordinated by the South Dakota Farm Bureau and the state Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
