Rodeo Rapid City, Belle Fourche Roundup earn honors from PRCA

Rodeo Rapid City, produced by Sutton Rodeo from Onida, has been named (Dec. 3, 2025) the 2025 Large Indoor Rodeo of the Year by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. This is the 7^th time Rodeo Rapid City has won the honor and the 25^th time it’s been nominated.

South Dakota’s reputation for hosting quality professional rodeo events was further highlighted by the Black Hills Roundup in Belle Fourche being named the PRCA’s Medium Outdoor Rodeo of the Year. It’s also Belle Fourche’s 7^th time winning that category.

Additionally, the Days of ’76 Rodeo in Deadwood was nominated in the PRCA Large Outdoor Rodeo of the Year category. This was the 6^th time that event had been nominated.

Rodeo Rapid City, produced by Sutton Rodeo from Onida, has been nominated as the 2025 PRCA Large Indoor Rodeo of the Year by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.

Other finalists for the 2025 PRCA Large Indoor Rodeo of the Year include Rodeo Houston in Houston, Texas; Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo in Fort Worth, Texas; San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo in San Antonio, Texas; and the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo in Denver, Colorado.

This year marks the 25th time Rodeo Rapid City has been nominated. They’ve been honored with the title six times, most recently in 2024. South Dakota’s prominence in professional rodeo was further highlighted by nominations in other size categories for the Days of ’76 Rodeo in Deadwood and the Black Hills Roundup in Belle Fourche. The winners will be announced at the annual PRCA Awards Banquet in Las Vegas Dec. 3.

Rodeo Rapid City is held at The Monument and facility Executive Director Craig Baltzer said being nominated alongside some of the most iconic rodeos in the country is an incredible honor. He said Rodeo Rapid City represents the dedication and passion of the Sutton family and continues to be a point of pride for both our community and the sport of rodeo.

Founded in 1926, Sutton Rodeo is recognized for its award-winning events and top-quality livestock, including multiple PRCA Bucking Stock of the Year honors and numerous National Finals Rodeo appearances.

The 2026 Rodeo Rapid City will take place January 30 through February 7 at The Monument in Rapid City.
