What a wonderful year it has been at Special Olympics South Dakota! As we look back on this past year, we are incredibly grateful for all of the Special Olympics coaches, volunteers, parents, supporters, and, most of all, our athletes who made this movement possible.
Your support has helped change the lives of so many athletes in South Dakota and around the world.
Together, we accomplished so much this year, including:
Hosting 22 Area Competitions and 5 State Competitions
Welcoming more than 150 Special Olympics South Dakota athletes and Unified partners (individuals without intellectual disabilities)
Reaching the milestone of 100 Unified Champion Schools in South Dakota to promote unity from preschool through college
Providing free health assessments to more than 400 athletes at State Summer Games in Vermillion
Hosting 2 Young Athletes (a sport and play program for individuals with intellectual disabilities between the ages of 2-7) sessions with our partners, Fun & Friends, in Sioux Falls
Holding our first-ever Fitness Captain training to empower athletes to lead their sports teams in activities related to fitness and health
Expanding the Law Enforcement Torch Run with 15 new officers in support of Special Olympics South Dakota athletes
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!
May this time bring you peace, joy, unity, and inclusion. Let’s spread love and kindness together!
