Special Olympics is the largest sports organization in the world serving people with intellectual disabilities (ID). We grew our global and joyful inclusion movement one athlete, one game, one sport, and one donation at a time.
Today, when someone joins Special Olympics South Dakota as an athlete, they are welcomed into a community of unapologetic acceptance and limitless potential. They get to play and train, compete and go for gold, and find a sports family that loves and celebrates them exactly for who they are.
Our generous supporters in South Dakota and around the world – like you – help transform the lives of millions of athletes with ID each and every year. And there is power behind every single gift because our philosophy has always been that it doesn’t take a whole lot to bring someone into the game.
It’s a $33 basketball that sparks lifelong passion or lets someone join their first-ever team. It’s a $65 gift that covers the cost of a Stridder Bike for a five-year-old athlete in the Young Athletes program, so they can learn about sports and grow their confidence. Whatever a supporter can chip in, the power is lasting, and a child or adult with ID has a chance to get off the sidelines and achieve their potential.
