TEA, S.D. — The Pierre Governors suffered a fourth consecutive defeat Tuesday night on the road at Tea Area, as the Titans came out on top, 63-43. The Governors played well in spurts, but the Titans found ways to answer each Pierre run to maintain the lead. After trailing 16-6 at the end of the first quarter, Pierre scored the first nine points of the second tomorrow within one, but Tea Area responded with 14 unanswered to lead 30-15 at the break. The Govs then closed the gap to eight at 46-38 after three, but the offense went cold for the final eight minutes, allowing the Titans to build an eventual 20-point victory margin. Gavin Shawd scored 27 points, but his six steals that led to breakaway layups and other easy transition baskets were big momentum boosters for the Titans. Grifin Wiebenga added 16 in the win. Jerren Deal led Pierre with 14 points and Sincere Wilson added nine off the bench after starting guard Logan Witte suffered an ankle injury just before halftime. Tea Area improved to 7-1 with the win while the Governor ms fall to 2-6. Pierre will host Douglas next Tuesday with coverage on RIVER 92-7 and DRGnews.com.
