MOBRIDGE (KOLY)- The general public has an answer. Yes, the Mobridge Chamber Ice Fishing Tournament is “on” despite warmer than average temperatures. Organizer Kerry Konold was a guest on the Between Hooksets Podcast with KOLY’s Chasen Walter and Curt Underhill. Last night’s show was all about the upcoming 26th Mobridge Chamber Ice Fishing Tournament with 576 2 person teams sitting on the edge of their seats waiting to hit the ice this Saturday, January 17th. Teams are allowed to fish Saturday only from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and are allowed to weigh-in 6 walleye with only 2 over twenty inches. Konold told Between Hooksets watchers “there is good ice out there” and recommends anglers “spud” ahead for safety. A spud bar is a heavy metal bar used to prod the ice to find weak or thin spots in the ice. Konold also mentioned the total cash and prizes to be given away this year is pressing that $275 to $280,000.00 mark.
