PIERRE, S.D. – Corde Austin scored 30 points to help the Pierre Governors top Douglas Tuesday night, 61-38. Both teams struggled in the first quarter as the Patriots held a slim 8-7 lead, but while the struggles continued for Douglas, the Governors found their groove, outscoring the visitors 22-2 to take a 29-10 lead at the half. A 3-pointer by Austin early in the fourth period put Pierre up by 30 and they coasted through the second half. Austin was perfect on four attempts from outside the arc and on six attempts at the free throw line. Sincere Wilson added nine points off the bench for the second straight game to help the Governor cause. Logan Amaral led the Patriots with 13 points. The Govs broke a four-game losing streak with the win to improve to 3-6 and will host Brandon Valley Thursday at Riggs High Gym.
