Feeding South Dakota is kicking off 2026 with a year-long matching campaign made possible by the generosity of Jim & Melody Mielke, supporters of the organization’s mission to end hunger in South Dakota. Every new monthly gift started in 2026 through the organization’s 605 Meal Makers program will be matched for the entire year, doubling the impact of new supporters.
“Feeding South Dakota has been doing this work for decades, and we want to encourage more people to support the mission in a way that will continue helping families long into the future,” said Jim Mielke. “Monthly donors make that possible by providing predictable funding the organization can count on year after year.”
“I believe no one should wonder where their next meal will come from, and I’ve seen how Feeding South Dakota can make a difference,” Melody Mielke said. “This matching gift is about creating stability for families with compassion and consistency.”
Donors who invest through the 605 Meal Makers program provide a reliable foundation for Feeding South Dakota’s work, helping deliver nutritious food to all 66 counties through mobile distributions, child hunger programs, and a network of community partner agencies.
“Jim and Melody’s generosity reflects a deep belief in long-term solutions,” said Lori Dykstra, CEO of Feeding South Dakota. “Monthly donors, our 605 Meal Makers, are critical to sustaining our work. Their dependable support allows us to plan responsibly, remain flexible during emergencies, and ensure South Dakotans have access to food throughout the year.”
Community members can take part in the matching campaign by becoming a new monthly donor at www.feedingsouthdakota.org. Any new monthly gift started in 2026 will qualify for the match.
