A gathering will be held in April to share information about the possibility of building a space to host large scale activities and events in Pierre.
Central South Dakota Recreational Committee member Brian Moser says a group has been meeting for about a year and a half now. He says they started with a focus on athletics, but have since expanded beyond that.
Moser says the Committee wants to provide space for whoever needs it, however they need it.
Moser says people frequently leave Pierre to attend events in other communities and he’d like to see people coming to Pierre for some of those events.
Moser says the Central South Dakota Recreational Committee will hold a kickoff event April 25 (at Larkspur Landing) in Pierre.
Moser says having a venue where events and activities can be held in Pierre year-round will add to the quality of life amenities that are already provided by the Missouri River, city and state parks and recreational trails, museums, historical sites, swimming pools and the many other opportunities that are already available in central South Dakota.
