There continues to be strong passenger numbers out of the Pierre Regional Airport, according to City Commissioner Jamie Huizenga.
Huizenga said the solid ridership out of Pierre continued in February.
Comparing January and February 2026 to 2025 numbers, Huizenga said….
Huizenga said looking back at passenger numbers for the past 30-some years, you see steady growth in usage.
SkyWest/United Express is the current federal essential air service contract holder for the Pierre Regional Airport. They currently provide 12 weekly round-trip flights between Pierre and the Denver International Airport.
SkyWest also serves the Watertown Regional Airport. From there, they provide Delta flights to Minneapolis-St. Paul, and United Express flights to Denver. Incidentally, starting Sunday, March 8, 2026, Watertown City Manager Alan Stager says the departure time for their Delta flight to Minneapolis will switch from 5:15am to 6:45am.
Stager said Delta’s arrival time back into Watertown from Minneapolis will be 7:11pm, as opposed to the current 9pm arrival time.
