The Zap faced a win or go home scenario in Casper Wednesday night. one win away from going to the championship series, but also one loss away from the season coming to an end. The Zap had battled from an early season slump where they just could not string together wins to a momentous push into the end of June that carried them through July all the way to the playoffs. And it looked like they were going to set up a rematch from the 2025 championship with the Spearfish Sasquatch until the Spuds swiped it away.
The Zap found themselves behind 1-0 early before answering with a run in the third when Gavin Fraser drove in Gabriel Cantona to tie the game up 1-1. Then, in the fifth inning, Dillon Bowie scored on an error committed by the Spuds third basemen to make it 2-1.
The Zap would add to their lead in the seventh on another Fraser base-knock, this time a double that would score Cantona again. The Spuds would draw one run closer, but an insurance run facilitated by Bowie on a deep double into right would put the Zap three outs away from the championship.
Zap legend Brady Glenn was tasked with recording the final three outs, but some small ball from the Spuds would bring across two and tie the game 4-4.
A few threatening innings in extras would bring both to the 14th inning when the Spuds would put some runners on and bring across the game winner, bringing the Zap season to an end.
The Zap finish the summer with 23 wins and look forward to another summer in 2027 at Hyde Stadium.
