The North Dakota Highway Patrol has released the name of the man from Pierre killed Sunday evening (Aug. 2, 2026, at 6:50pm) in a rollover accident in Bowman County.
The updated crash information says 19 year old Jaxon Jungwirth was traveling southbound on 158th Avenue Southwest in Rhame, ND, when his 2023 Toyota Tacoma went off the roadway. The Patrol says Jungwirth over-corrected and the pickup rolled into the east ditch. He was not wearing a seat belt and sustained fatal injuries in the crash.
Jungwirth graduated from Pierre T.F. Riggs High School in 2025.
Rhame is located in the southwestern part of North Dakota, about 11 miles east of the Montana border.
Along with the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the Bowman County Sheriff’s Office, Bowman Ambulance Service, Rhame County Fire Department and Bowman Fire Department also responded to the accident.
The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota State Patrol.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says just before 7:00 p.m., the 19-year-old man was traveling south near the town of Rhame when he went off the road and overcorrected, causing his Toyota Tacoma pickup to roll.
The man suffered fatal injuries in the crash. He was not wearing a seat belt.
The Bowman County Sheriff’s Office, Bowman Ambulance, Bowman Fire and Rhame Fire assisted the State Patrol with the crash.
The name has not yet been released.
