As of September 2nd, 2026, Walworth County Commission meetings are live and recorded using Zoom. Video of the meetings will be posted on both the County’s website https://walworthco.org and on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100069049785564 The link for the public to join the Zoom meeting live will also be posted on the Facebook page.
Walworth County States Attorney Dan Gels had a request for a cell phone for after-hours and weekend use.
The board approved the request.
Also approved at Wednesday’s meeting was the Rieger Creek LLC hunting preserve liquor license.
Register of Deeds
Walworth County Register of Deeds Brenda DeToy gave the commissioners the monthly report from her office.
Auditor
A motion was passed to surplus the old electronic equipment from the Commission room and take it to the Landfill.
The current Walworth County 4-H Youth Advisor, Hannah Schochenmaier, is resigning, effective September 9th. Commission Chairman Randy Carlson mentioned he has visited with two people that might be interested in the position, and with the possibility of combining Walworth and Campbell Counties once again for 4-H. Walworth County Auditor Kim Dills will contact SDSU Extension regarding 4-H Leaders’ salaries.
Budget Discussion
Discussion on the 2027 Budget continued, including salaries for the second floor deputies, as well as part-time, and the Highway Department secretary. States Attorney Gels talked about the risk of reducing someone’s salary.
Commissioner Duane Mohr made a motion to leave the salaries as they are. The motion passed.
