It seems like any time Lyman and Jones County meet, the rivalry is rekindled thanks to both teams elevating their game and giving each other their best shot. It is always a treat when these two get together, and we were treated to another thriller on Tuesday night when the schools two volleyball teams clashed.
Lyman made the short trip up the road to visit the Coyotes, and stepped off the bus ready to play. The Raiders took the first set convincingly 25-15, but Jones County was able to settle in quickly and regain the momentum in the match. The Coyotes would quickly turn the match around by taking sets two (25-17) and three (25-22).
With their back against the wall, Lyman dug in and forced a fifth set after winning the fourth 25-19. In that final set, it went nip and tuck all the way throughout. However, the Coyotes would prevail taking set five 15-13 and the win.
The Coyotes were led by Aubrey Tucker who finished with 12 kills, Sunny Valburg and BreAna Aske both had three aces, Valburg had 9 kills and 8 for Aske. Lyman had another wonderful performance from Jordyn Scott who tallied 23 kills in the loss.
Lyman will take on Philip in their next contest while Jones County will have a very important match against Kadoka Area.
