The Sunset Paddle Wheeler may be getting a permanent home on the water in Fort Pierre.
Mayor Gloria Hanson says the historic vessel needs a safe place to dock.
Owners Caleb Gilkerson and Jess Burchill have been looking for a permanent location to dock the Sunset in Pierre or Fort Pierre for over three years. It had been docked along the Bad River in Fort Pierre, but high winds and winter freeze up created challenges with keeping the Sunset safely docked on the water.
