On May 24th, 2022, God received 2-year old Qulyssia Elizabeth Rose Alkire of Fort Yates, ND, into heaven where she no longer suffers. She was in the constant loving care of her parents while at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Mary’s Campus, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and General Pediatrics Unit at Rochester, MN.
Qulyssia was born November 4th, 2019, at Bismarck, ND to Travis and Tonisha Alkire. She was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer called ATRT on January 25th, 2022. From this date on she would be at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Mary’s Campus bravely battling cancer every day for almost 4 months until she was called to be with our Lord.
Qulyssia loved being in the country at her Grandpa and Grandma’s house where she enjoyed her days playing, taking long walks, enjoying her pool with water balloons, looking at her favorite books and hanging out with Grandpa. Qulyssia enjoyed her evenings and nights with her big brother Bubba, Mimi, and Dada eating dinner, cuddling, watching her favorite movies on Disney Plus, watching “baby yeah” on YouTube and would end the evening with her favorite thing to do which was “nanas”. Qulyssia enjoyed playing catch, throwing balls, playing with bubbles, and playing peek-a-boo. She also loved to dance and she had some moves! Qulyssia did things her way, at her pace and when SHE was ready!
Her favorite things were noodles, watermelon, blueberries, blueberry pancakes, commod cheese and favorite song was Watermelon Sugar by Harry Styles.
Grandma June lovingly nicknamed her Queen as she couldn’t pronounce her name and she pretty much ruled her family.
Grandma and Grandpa Alkire have such a great love for all their grandchildren. They will greatly miss the one they called “Baby Q” as they had spent so much precious time with her.
