Laura M. Rittel, passed away May 24, 2022 surrounded by the love of family. A celebration of Laura’s life will be held at 2:00pm, Friday, June 17, 2022 at the Pierre First Baptist Church with family greeting visitors from 1:00-2:00pm. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

 

Laura Marie was born May 29, 1951 in Pierre, SD to Helen and Neil Rittel. She attended school in Pierre, graduating from Riggs High School in 1969. Laura worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre, Duchesne County Hospital in Roosevelt, Utah and Medical Associates Clinic in Pierre as a medical transcriptionist.

Laura was a loyal and loving daughter as well as a patient and caring sister. She was the third of six Rittel children, and the peacekeeper of the family. She enjoyed woodworking and playing softball and spent much of her free time fishing and camping with family and friends. Laura was the favorite Aunt of 12 nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews. During retirement, she helped care for her parents. Laura enjoyed her 2nd family and friends while living in Lincoln Apartments. Loving the outdoor, she would daily drive to Oahe Dam to check on the Eagle families nesting there.
Laura is preceded in death by her parents Neil and Helen Rittel. She is survived by siblings Donna (Keith) Crandell, Karen (Alan) Hughart, Brad (Dawn) Rittel, Tana Culpepper, Liz (Jim) Ames, along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.
