The South Dakota Republican Party’s annual nominating convention starts today (June 23, 2022) in Watertown. The gathering comes two days after the Senate wrapped up the impeachment trial of the man GOP delegates chose as their candidate for Attorney General during the same gathering four years ago.
First term republican Senator Bryan Breitling from Miller thinks the impeachment of Jason Ravnsborg will cause some to reexamine what values the party’s nominees should reflect.
During the convention, republicans will decide who their candidates will be for Lieutenant Governor, Public Utilities Commissioner, Attorney General, State Auditor, State Treasurer, Secretary of State and Commissioner of School and Public Lands. The gathering runs through Saturday.
