The South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department has declared a “No-Wake Zone” for Mina Lake in Edmunds County.
Aquatic Habitat and Access Biologist Rhet Russell says the Mina Lake Watershed has received some significant rain events over the last few days so the lake has risen high enough for the automatic ‘No-Wake Zone’ to be enacted. He says as of noon yesterday (July 6, 2022), the water level was approximately 22 inches over the top of the spillway.
Russell says everything with the dam and spillway are functioning as they should. He says the level of Mina Lake is a “No-Wake Zone” during any time at which the water reaches the height of 18 inches or more over the level of the top of spillway.
The “No-Wake Zone” will be in place until water levels drop below the 18″ mark on the spillway.
