MOBRIDGE, S.D. – The Mobridge-Pollock Tigers returned from their bye week with new life Friday night, shutting out Aberdeen Roncalli 46-0 behind a dominant defensive performance and a rushing attack that finally found its footing.
The Tigers came out with energy from the opening whistle, quickly forcing a defensive stop before a big special teams play gave Mobridge-Pollock excellent field position to start its first offensive possession. The run game was a major difference-maker throughout the night. Easton Eisemann and Jacoby Carry Moccasin both found success on the ground, helping the Tigers control the game.
The defense was just as sharp, with the pass rush making an impact early. Owen Milliken broke into the backfield and forced a fumble that was recovered by Tyler Schmeichel, giving the Tigers another opportunity to capitalize. From there, the Mobridge-Pollock defense continued to make life difficult for the Aberdeen Roncalli offense. Trueth Crow Ghost came up with another standout performance, intercepting two passes, including a long pick-six where he weaved his way through the entire Aberdeen Roncalli offense on his way to the end zone.
Kellen Pfitzer also had a big night on defense, making plays all over the field and delivering one of the biggest sacks of the season. His all-around defensive performance earned him Burger King Player of the Game honors.
The Tigers continued to pull away throughout the night, with the offense showing more confidence and consistency than it had earlier in the season. The combination of a successful ground game, strong special teams play and another dominant defensive effort helped Mobridge-Pollock cruise to the 46-0 shutout.
Mobridge-Pollock will look to carry that momentum into next week when the Tigers return home to host Clark/Willow Lake. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT on October 2.
